Markdown Mondays: Spring Dresses
This week’s #MarkdownMondays is all about getting “dress“ed up for the season.
We have options ranging from a casual denim dress by Club Monaco, to a fit & flare style by DVF, a flirty silky one from Banana Republic, a maxi from Anthropologie and a chiffon bridesmaid-style dress from JCrew.
Styling Tip for Maxi Dresses: A maxi silhouette can be really flattering, but can also sometimes be intimidating especially for those of us who are more petite. The key is to pick the right shape. I prefer ones that have some waist definition – either via a tighter bodice getting more flowing around the hips, or those that have a belt or color block close to the waist. The one that I chose for this collage has great waist-definition and 3:5 golden mean proportion ratio. Also, when choosing a maxi with a pattern, try to make sure that the scale of the pattern is not too large or too small when compared to your facial features and overall body type. When you pick a pattern scale that’s harmonious with your own, the dress won’t feel like it’s swallowing you. Finally, the length is also important. While many maxis do drape all the way down to your feet, there are also ones that end closer to the ankle. For someone who is very petite, ankle length might be a good choice as it will make you look taller while bringing attention to the thinnest part of your leg.
