Markdown Mondays: Halloween Edition

Markdown Mondays Halloween Edition Collage 103116I really can’t believe it’s Halloween already (and the 31st of October!) With the weather messing around from hot to cold, it’s difficult to settle on the ideal wardrobe picks – as most of us have probably already rotated our closets (especially those of us who live in small NYC apartments). So instead of creating another Fall look for today’s style digest, I decided to instead put together a playful Halloween-inspired outfit that can also be worn after the Holiday.

In this #MarkdownMondays collage, I have all the ingredients for a low-maintenance sexy cat look – with accessories and makeup to boo(t)!

We start with this very universally-flattering pair of black pants by 3.1 Phillip Lim at SAKS. They are called “wetsuit detail” pants – and they fit like a glove (and can totally be paired with sweaters, blouses & blazers for an-after-Halloween-all-year-long-look.

To continue our “column of color” effect (which is a stylist trick for making yourself look longer and slimmer – wearing one color family from top to bottom to elongate your body and draw a vertical line, forcing the eye to travel downward instead of horizontally), we have this pair of great of Miss Albright Escuro Wedges from Anthropologie. The shoes give you height plus stability – with the comfortable 4″ wrapped wedge platform.

For the “cat suit” top we have this Long-Sleeve Ribbed Mock-Neck Top from Banana Republic – which can be worn under any blazer or with any pair of jeans during the season. It’s only $20 – so I’m planning to get a few of them for the winter – they create the perfect base layer and fit snugly without pulling tight.

Finally, what’s a cat without CAT EARS (these from Ricky’s are lacy and on sale) – and CAT EYE MAKEUP (this set from TooFaced is currently sold out on their site, where they have a 20% off Friends & Family Sale going on) but you can also pick it up at your nearest Macy’s or on Macys.com. If you’re unsure of how to create the perfect Cat Eye, check out this handy tutorial from The Every Girl that will walk you through the process.
