Client Reflections: Lindsey’s Style Journey

Lindsey Client Reflections Style Journey

I’m so excited to share another style journey from my lovely client Lindsey.

Lindsey reached out to me as she was planning a trip to NYC to attend a workshop, and wanted to see if she could schedule a session to share with a friend. They chose my SHARE THE FUN Package, which includes a Style Development & Color Analysis Session for 2 and 4 Hours of Personal Shopping – split between 2.

I asked Lindsey to share some insights into her journey as a fourth installment of the blog post series “Client Reflections: Style Journeys” — please check out her experience story below!

Q: What initially prompted you to seek out my services (of an Image & Wardrobe Consultant & Personal Shopper)?

A. I decided to work with Dina after multiple pregnancies changed the way my body is shaped and left me with a wardrobe of ‘placeholder’ items like stretchy, cheap tank tops, tees and leggings that I told myself were ‘just for a little while’… until that ‘little while’ got to be too long for me to wait any more!

Q: What were some of the struggles you were having with your wardrobe and some of the questions you had before we got started?
A: In addition to the above, I was no longer available to wear poorly fitting, unflattering clothes and wanted to reboot my entire wardrobe for work, date nights and mothering – and felt that Dina was the perfect person to help me do that.

Q: What do you think was the most exciting part of the process of us working together?
A: I chose the “Share the Fun” package and shared it with a friend. We both adored the entire process from start to finish. Dina is SUCH a pro and I am thrilled with what she provided. First, she sent over a questionnaire and a Pinterest link so we could share what we’re looking for, what we love, what we hate, etc. This provided a lot of clarity for me right out of the gate. Then, we met with Dina at her office in Lower Manhattan, where she provided all the info we needed to start our wardrobe reboots: color analysis, color swatches to shop with, shape analysis, ideal garment shapes (e.g., A-line skirts, 3/4-length raglan sleeves, a rounded neckline that falls at a certain point), which textures and patterns and line types are best for us, our ‘style personality’ (which we used as a basis for a coherent wardrobe that can easily be mixed and matched)…

Q: How was shopping with me different from shopping by yourself?
A: We decided to split our package into two days, so a few weeks later (after the Color & Style Session), after we filled out a shopping list (garments we want/need, the priority level for each one, price range we’re willing to spend), we met with Dina again, this time at Saks Off 5th. She had pre-shopped for us and found some total steals, including a handful that I wouldn’t have noticed on the rack but that looked AMAZING on me. Oh, and there was a sale, so everything was an extra 20% off. And she got an extra 15% off on jeans. AND she got 15% off on two bouclé blazers that had minor, totally repairable pulls and a silk cami that had a minuscule pull on the back (I planned to only wear it with blazers, anyway). My friends know I can suss out a great deal, but this was BEYOND. Between the sale, Dina’s know-how and her keen eye, she saved me thousands.

We had originally planned to go to Karen Millen (where Dina gets 20% off), too, but the sale at Saks led us to focus there for the best value on our purchases. I think she normally has people go to a few places, but in our case, it made sense to stick to Saks.

Q:What would you say stuck with you the most after our sessions?
A: How confident I felt in purchasing my faves from Dina’s curated selection of pieces, how perfectly they fit into my new wardrobe and how much I saved on each one. I picked up 2 blazers, 2 dresses, 2 dressy tank tops, 3 pairs of shoes, 3 pairs of jeans, a pair of sunglasses and a gorgeous suede capelet. Everything is excellent quality. Brands included Karl Lagerfeld, Alice & Olivia, Burberry, Hudson, Vince, Frame & Rebecca Taylor. Dina’s strategic planning was perfect: I left with all the basics I needed, plus some delightfully unique pieces, too. My total was only ~$1300 (way under my budget for the wardrobe reboot). My savings were ~$2500. In other words, her work paid for itself right away. Plus, now I know exactly what to look for whenever I shop, making my process easier and saving me from missteps along the way. This is one of the wisest investments I’ve ever made. I only wish I’d done it sooner!

Q: Any advice for people looking to hire a stylist?
A: If you’re considering a wardrobe reboot (especially for a style change or a post-pregnancy shift), I highly recommend Dina as your trusted guide through the entire process. I think you’ll be just as thrilled with the results as I am! Dina knows exactly where to go, what to pick up off the rack and how to get the best quality at the best price. After working with her, I feel confident in my wardrobe and my ability to select new items in a way I can’t remember feeling in years.

Fashionably yours,

Thank you, Lindsey, for sharing your story!
