Personal Shopping Finds Of The Week: Club Monaco, JCrew, Anthropologie
One of my favorite aspects of being a Wardrobe Stylist & Personal Shopper is that I get to regularly visit my favorite NYC stores to see what’s new & what’s trending – so that I can be most informed, creative & efficient in my client Personal Shopping Sessions.
I’ve decided to start this recurring blog post series, which will be dedicated to my best finds from the week that I’ll be sharing with you guys. I’ll also be including some styling tips along the way, and shopping links to where you can find the items for yourselves!
For this week’s style finds digest, I hit up 3 of my favorite stores in the Flatiron district. Below you can see the 3 items I chose from each stores, and ideas on how to style them into your Fall Wardrobe!
The first stop on my list was Club Monaco. I’ve always been a fan of the brand, and this season is no exception! I’m loving all their Fall color stories with the blush pinks, soft browns, rusts and greens. My favorite three pieces are a gorgeous pink wool coat style called LURELL which is exclusive to the Flatiron store (retails for $398), a micro-pleated ANNINA midi skirt in a metallic green color (retails for $198.50) and the ELLODIE Sweater in Charcoal Gray (retails for $169.50) – which is also a store exclusive. All 3 pieces are really versatile – the sweater has statement sleeves that make it very unique, it pairs well with jeans and cropped pants, or over an above-the-knee skirt with a belt for waist definition – worn with a pair of high boots or booties. The green skirt is a true statement piece – the vertical pleats and shimmery fabric with the high-waisted silhouette make it super flattering and glam. I’m a big fan of wearing midi skirts with a tucked-in blouse or shirt tied at the waist – depending on the look you’re trying to create – this way you can really capitalize on the focus on your body’s narrowest part (the waist!)
For the second store, I stopped by my other favorite – JCrew. They have a ton of bright colors for the season – including blazers, sweaters, pants and jewelry. I am definitely a color enthusiast so I am delighted with their offering! My three favorite pieces from this trip are this Rhodes Blazer in “Pink Flamingo” (hot fuchsia color, retails for $198), this merino wool Tippi Scoopneck Sweater in “Neon Heather Fuchsia” (retails for $78 with additional 25% off right now), and this 3/4 sleeve Ballet T-Shirt in red & white stripe (color is called “bright geranium ivory”, retails for $29.50 with additional 25% off right now).
As with Club Monaco’s selects, these pieces are also super versatile, and fill a few needs in the Fall/Winter wardrobe – for pairing, layering and color-coordination. I would wear the blazer (which is made of Italian wool and is super flattering) with skinny jeans or black velvet legging pants (like these from L.K. Bennett), with flats or booties depending on my mood. I would layer the merino wool sweater over a tank top or silk long-sleeve top for warmth and contrast; I would cuff the sweater’s sleeves to a 3/4 length – letting the silk shirt peak out from underneath the sweater, and accentuating my arms, as a 3/4 length always makes them look longer. The ballet tee is super cute and flirty, and can be easily worn with just jeans or corduroy skirt like this one and boots for a casual/weekend look. I prefer to tuck mine in – as otherwise it might hit at that tricky point about half-way down the body – which is the not the most pleasing proportion.
For my 3rd and final store of this week’s shopping highlights tour, I went to my absolute all-time-fave, Anthropologie. My 3 picks from there are this Garden Pop Skirt (retails for $148), this Freshgarden Oblong Scarf in “Red” (retails for $78), and this Eclat Midi Skirt. The 2 skirts from Anthro are very different in their look & feel – the shorter skirt features a beautiful floral design and elastic waist-band; it’s a pull-on style that sits tight around the hips and flares out very slightly below the thighs into a subtle A-Line. The longer metallic pleated silhouette of the other skirt is similar to the Club Monaco one, but is more shimmery and the cut is a little more interesting. The scarf also comes in “Green” and “Blue” – and is perfect to add both warmth and color to your Fall/Winter looks.
